In today’s market Ashwagandha is the most profitable crop. Farmers will get better profits and benefits from this crop because: -

Ashwagandha is very useful for improvement of health. The roots, stems and leaves of this crop, can cure several diseases. Farmers will be benefited from the roots and seeds of the crop. The output is 5 to 6 qtl roots and 50 to 60 kg seeds per hectares. All over the world, the medicine manufacturers use Ashwagandha as the major raw material to produce medicines useful for revitalization of health. Hence, this product is sold at once. Even today it’s market rate is Rs. 80/- to Rs. 100/- per kg and the product is not available plenty in the market.
Ashwagandha cultivate in stony soil, reddish soil etc. The seeds are sowed in July-Oct. after heavy rain. 10 to 12 kg seeds require for one hectare. The seeds are sown as per our old custom by throwing in the ploughed land. After 15 days the germination occurs. The roots run through in the underground like muli (reddish), gajar (carat) etc.
Following method may be followed for Ashwagandha cultivation:-
(1)Water should not be accumulate in the land. The system to clear of the water requires.
(2)Do not allow water accumulation in the land.
(3)Plough the land thoroughly.
(4)Sow the seeds after heavy rain and the water entered deeply in to the land.
(5)Ashwagandha seeds need to sow as per old custom by throwing from the hands.
(6)Conform that the seeds enter in to the soil.
(7)Do not sow the seed when water is accumulated in the land.
(8)After germination the other small plants grow around the crop need to be removed.
After 160-190 days (i.e. Between Dec-Feb) harvesting done. When the flowers become red and the leaves become dry one could find that the crops are ready for harvesting. Water available in the nature is sufficient for the cultivation of Ashwagandha.
