CASIA ANGUSTIFOLIA (SANAY/SONAMUKHI)

(Cultivate in barren land and no supervision require after cultivation)

 

        Sanay cultivation is possible to those farmers and landowners who owns even barren land, who are really ambitious, and wish to utilize the barren land to make some profits without making much efforts. Sanay cultivation does not require neither large quantities of water or any need to put fertilizers in the field. Once sow, the crops yields for 5 years. This crop neither eats by animals/cattle’s nor destroys by insects. The cultivation is possible with only rainwater.

 

        Method of cultivation: - All the pharmaceuticals companies use this herb to make medicines, which cure different types of diseases. The cultivation of Sanay is possible in every nook and corner of India. The cultivation is possible in sandy soil, barren land etc. Ploughing of the land can be done by tractor or by animals. Ploughing need to be done deeply. Seed sowing is done by both ways of our old customs i.e. applying the seed one by one in the ploughed soil or by throwing from the hands. 15 July to 30 Sept. is suitable period to sow the seeds. 10 to 12 kg. seeds are required in one hectare. No necessary to use any type of fertilizers for the cultivation of Sanay. The height of the plant comes around 60 to 120 Cms.

 

        After 100 to 120 days the leaves of Sanay plant can be cut off. After cutting, the leaves come again and again and it can be cut off after 60 days. In this way, we get the crop at least 4 times in a year.

 

        Dry the leaves in shade to keep alive the green color of the leaves.

 

        The leaves are to be cut off before the start of rainy season so that the leaves would not be ruined. The cultivation of Sanay is more profitable and beneficial with less effort. The farmers get at least Rs. 6000/- to Rs. 8000/- profit from the cultivation.
